Red wine
Gaja, Barbaresco 1999
Open and expressive nose of sweet cherries, vanilla, cedarwood, nail varnish and cooked strawberries. The palate is still tight – medium-bodied, with grippy tannins, great freshness, a long finish and good complexity. A touch of bitterness and a little bit marked by the oak, but the fruit still comes forward nicely, and it shows great balance on the palate. Impressive.
