Red wine
Gaja, Sorì San Lorenzo, Barbaresco 1988
Sadly this is a wine that is past its best, lacking fruit and intensity. Even the appearance is a slightly dull, light cherry colour. The nose is open but not overly complex, with tobacco, smoked tea, earthy notes, cooked mushrooms and geranium. The medium-bodied palate lacks intensity, vibrancy or complexity, and it feels a bit tired.
