Red wine
Chateau Rocheyron, St Emilion Grand Cru 2015
Deep ruby colour and a deep, concentrated nose with violet perfume submerged under velvety briar. Blueberry and spice on the palate, the whole very delicate with great concentration, fine-grained tannins and powerful, racy acidity. Sisseck describes his approach to winemaking as the search for “extreme balance” which conjures the idea of powerful forces pulling against each other in an elegant tension. This is evident above all in the tightly-wound length. Sisseck (with the ultra-critical winemaker’s eye): “We overcropped a little on this – it’s maybe a little bit easy and the finish could be longer.” For the record, cropping was “approaching 40hl/ha. I like to be 32-35hl/ha.”
