Red wine
Château Haut-Brion, 1er cru classé 2010
RRP £664.80
The only first growth south of Bordeaux, on the city’s outskirts, with hotter temperatures than its Médoc counterparts as a result. So concentrated it’s almost impenetrable on the nose at first as there’s no way into that tight core. Then slowly but surely, delicate aromas start peeking through. Soft, subtle, and trembling with fresh rose petals. This is a monumental wine, with immense intensity on the palate. It is unctuous but never cloying, boasting a surprising lightness of touch and an airy quality, with a long, imposing finish.
