Red wine
Château Canon, 1er grand cru classé B 2010
Canon has been owned by the Wertheimer family of Maison Chanel since 1996, and the interior of the château is the most pleasing mix of perfectly harmonious juxtaposition of different prints and textures I have ever laid eyes on. In recent years the wine is similarly, effortlessly layered. The 2010 on the nose is a plush, potent purple fruit embrace with a touch of chocolate indulgence. Confident and cheerful. On the mouth it is tight-packed, with concentrated fruit and spicy tannins. Black fruit sweetness and concentration builds onto a long finish. This doesn’t yet possess the elegance of today’s Canon, but the terroir is there and it shines in this vintage.
