Red wine
Castiglion del Bosco, Millecento 1100 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva 2012
RRP £120
The Riserva comes from the oldest Capanna vines and is aged a full 36 months in oak. Peppery nose, an instant hit – then creamy red fruit on the nose, dried rose petals, some rosemary and mint and mown grass. On the palate, there is some heat from the alcohol but nothing excessive for this very hot vintage. Concentrated dark fruits, damson, cassis and tarry notes. Velvety tannins and fine acidity, savoury mid-palate, waft of potpourri. Very attractive.
