Superb, really fresh and bright, with tannic grip and racy acidity. The texture is all white pepper and dark chocolate with perfume: top notes of violet and sweet clove, along with ripe dark fruit. Very good precise tannic structure, which seems very young. This is made primarily of clones 4 and 6, the two clones selected by BV and UC Davis as the most ideally suited to the Rutherford terroir. Their character – lush cherry and cassis and beautifully-structured tannins, is evident in the wine.
