Red wine
Beaulieu Vineyard, Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 1985
RRP £110
The remains of a charming youth hover round this wine. The nose has stewed fruit and black truffle with a bit of undisturbed forest floor. There’s cedar and leather but it’s all a bit cooked, kirsch and licorice adding interest but they are no match against a palate becoming porty with age. The finish is short and drying. Another curiosity, of academic interest only.
