Mencía is one of Spain’s most exciting red grapes and this compelling wine comes from Monterrei, the youngest DO in Galicia, which lies inland at an altitude of around 500m. Fresh, vibrant, unoaked, there’s crunchy red fruit, lithe structure and a hint of something savoury on the finish. A great option for lovers of Pinot Noir or Gamay, this lends itself to a chill, so give it 20 minutes in the fridge and enjoy with pasta and ragu.
