Full and fruity from the outset, this may lack the lift of a Grande or Petite Champagne Cognac, but the seamless breadth of Borderies is immediately evident. Richer than expected for its relative youth, with light spice and coffee-roast aromas. Smooth and opulent on the palate, with more of those dark descriptors – coffee bean, mocha – and a slightly bitter finish. A neat evocation of the Borderies style that underpins Martell, but with quite expressive oak too.
