peter michael ma belle fille bottle

Peter Michael Winery, Ma Belle-Fille 2009

RRP £134

Deepening towards a medium-gold with age, this wine smells of butterscotch and lemon cream pie. Flavours of lemon cream and butterscotch mix with candied grapefruit and a remarkable wet-pavement minerality that lingers through the finish. Despite its age, this wine possesses a vibrancy that recalls the tingly sensation that pineapple can leave in the mouth, thanks to excellent acidity. Beautifully textured and silky on the palate. Later-than-usual rains made for some nervousness in spring, but the rest of the summer proved ideal, with very few heat spikes and an untroubled harvest in late September.
