Chartogne-Taillet, Les Barres, Extra Brut, 2013
RRP POA
Pinot Meunier has experienced a renewed recognition over the past decade, and one of the brightest stars in the new Meunier firmament is Alexandre Chartogne’s Les Barres, sourced from a parcel of ungrafted vines planted in 1952. Ungrafted vines in Champagne are rare, and these are able to survive on their own rootstocks due to the vineyard’s sandy soils. They produce a vivid, elegantly textured Champagne – one that demonstrates a subtle refinement and keenly expresses a sense of place.
