Shafer Vineyards, Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon 1985

RRP £200

Very expressive nose, with aromas of rich damson and leather, mown grass (hay), forest floor and even mushrooms. The palate is juicy, with Shafer’s trademark sweet fruit and soft and seductive
tannins. Very fresh for a 30-year-old. Shafer: ‘This was made by a couple of young knuckleheads who didn’t know shit. It’s a great vintage despite the fact our skill was all over the park. The nose is a big surprise.’
