Gordon & MacPhail, Mr George Centenary Edition, 1956 Glen Grant
This expression of Glen Grant was created to celebrate what would have been the 100th birthday of George Urquhart, a member of Gordon & MacPhail’s founding family. Mr George, as Urquhart was known, was instrumental in laying down casks to be matured to create whiskies of great age. The nose is surprisingly fresh, with floral notes and
blackcurrant at first. This is followed by old polish and walnuts, showing the whisky’s aged qualities. There are touches of peat mixed with the dark fruits on the palate, as well as bitter dark chocolate, soot, orange juice and cocoa
powder. A marvellously complex whisky.
