Bottled in 2020 as a 14-year-old, this is an exploration of ex-Cognac casks, having spent all but its first three years in them. While it has Foursquare’s classic heady density of aromas, there is a drier element at work here, moving towards almond/ marzipan alongside dry grasses, molasses, tobacco leaf and smoke. The palate is voluptuously rich, with tayberry jam, plum, liquorice, white pepper and candied walnut. The palate contrasts mango-like sweetness with cigar ash and clay on the end, as the grip of oak comes into play.
