Very old Armagnac has a tendency to be too woody, where the cask overpowers the grape notes. This starts with a wonderfully vibrant burst of coffee, toffee and banana bread, with fresh cherry and plump raisins. Some mandarin, with a note of clove, too. The palate has bitter orange, Jaffa Cakes, runny honey and toffee apple, with some warm apple crumble, too. The finish is long and satisfying, with earthy spices, more ginger and vanilla. Wonderfully vibrant and lithe, even in this extra-old expression.
