Distilled: 1999
Refill and New, Freshly-Charred Casks
Number Bottled: Limited Quantities
Nose: There’s so much to take in here; each nosing reveals a new delight: Dark chocolate, dried cherries and sticky molasses. Plump sultanas, apple chips and juicy mandarin segments. Dried figs and honey stirred into creamy porridge. Starburst chews and bran flakes…
Palate: First a wave of grilled tropical fruit and dark chocolate, before heady cask spice builds in the mid-palate. It subsides into a malty, porridgey creaminess with crumbly chocolate cake, Biscoff biscuits and crushed digestives.
Finish: New York vanilla cheesecake with a (slightly burnt) biscuit base.
Conclusion: Cragganmore’s slightly waxy, fruity spirit has been nuanced into layer upon layer of flavour through maturation in refill and virgin, freshly-charred casks.
