Quilceda Creek
Red wine

Quilceda Creek, Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

RRP £218

The 2011 vintage challenged winemakers across the Pacific Northwest. Spring, summer and autumn were cool and wet. A lot of grapes were declassified, and production was almost halved. The wine is precise and linear, the fruit fresh but not opulent; acidity is high, and there’s an unwelcome dryness because the fruit is rather too dominated by oak. Of all the wines in the tasting, this is the one that needs to be drunk now: those tannins aren’t going to get any sweeter.
