Château Mouton Rothschild

Château Mouton Rothschild, 2009

RRP £648

Impressive, driving, piercing dark fruit that fills the nose. The bouquet is very pure and very arresting: a real head-turner, like the sculptures of Anish Kapoor, who designed the artist’s label for this vintage, entitled “gouache inédite”. Like Kapoor’s gouache, the 2009 vintage is unprecedented in its flamboyance. In the mouth, this Mouton is an intoxicating fruit-bomb, incredibly concentrated, generous, and crammed full of stuffing. That head-turning exterior should reveal an extra layer of complexity over time.
