Château Léoville Las Cases 2009

Always one of the most aristocratic Saint-Juliens, this 2009 is unusual on the nose, bearing the hallmark of a warm vintage. It has sweet, vanillin, sensual red fruit – redcurrants – with a waft of rhubarb and custard boiled sweets. On the palate, a fine grained, chalky tannin lends velvety weight. Again it is red fruit and vanilla flavours that dominate, rather than the usual darker-fruit purity of this cru.
