Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, 5ème cru classé 2009

RRP £68

This Pauillac property is a long-time favourite of the wine trade, recognised for its consistent high quality and relatively good value. The 2009 does not disappoint (in quality terms at least): it is precise, driven, and intoxicatingly pure in the nostrils. There is a complexity and vibrancy to the fruit that draws you into another world. The palate is impeccable, marrying a creamy, lacy texture with pure, blue-black inky fruit (Mont Blanc’s Midnight Blue). A stunner.
