Nose: Waxy and meaty with grilled nectarines, toasted nuts and a slightly singed summer fruits pie.
Palate: More stewed fruits with this thick, waxy, mouth-coating texture that moves things into dry leather, sweet glazed ham and a red chilli kick.
Finish: Long lasting with grilled peaches, candle wax and chilli spice.
Conclusion: Mortlach is known for its meaty feistiness, but when matured in casks seasoned with PX and oloroso Sherry it really comes into its own.
