1986 Single Cask 7387

Karuizawa, 1986 Single Cask 7387

This was bottled in 2008, so it’s 22 years old, and it is a shining example of a big sherried Karuizawa.

Nose: An intense mix of red berries, over ripe black currants, Camp coffee, plums, figs, a late Autumnal damp forest floor, and mushroomy notes.
Palate: with water this is something of an oral firework display, with lemon and grapefruit to the fore, nuts, honey, milk chocolate and orange centre stage, and oak and spice late on.
Finish: Not as long as some other expressions but a nice, sweet mix of fruit, oak. Less demanding than older Karuizawas, but that’s no bad thing.
